FAQ
  1. Low voltage running motor burnout fault
           About rated voltage and frequency

Any kind of electrical appliance will have the requirement of rated voltage. During the actual operation, if it runs within the normal fluctuation range, the electrical appliance will work normally, otherwise it will lead to failure. The power supply frequency adopted in my country is 50Hz, and the frequency deviation range is generally specified as ±0.5Hz. Another example is the thermal radiation light source, if the voltage is too high, its service life will be greatly shortened; if the voltage is too low, the illumination of the light source will be significantly dimmed, which will seriously affect the work efficiency and human vision health. It can be seen that the fluctuation of grid voltage will affect the normal operation and service life of electrical equipment. Therefore, the continuous and reliable voltage, frequency and power supply are the basic indicators to characterize the power quality.

All electrical equipment in a power system has a rated working voltage and frequency. When electrical equipment works at its rated voltage and frequency, its comprehensive economic effect is the best. For example, if the voltage of an induction motor is high, although the torque increases, the current also increases, and the temperature increases, which will seriously damage the motor insulation and shorten the service life.

If the voltage is too low, the torque will be reduced by the quadratic voltage of the voltage, and when the load torque is required to be certain, the winding current will inevitably increase, and the insulation of the motor will be damaged and the service life will be shortened; if the power frequency is too high or If it is too low, it will also seriously affect the torque and service life of the motor.

Consequences of voltage not meeting requirements

Changes in the power supply voltage that are too high or too low have adverse effects on the motor. When the voltage is too high (higher than 10%), the magnetic circuit of the iron core is saturated (because when designing and manufacturing the motor, the magnetic circuit under the rated voltage is generally near the saturation point), therefore, the increase of the main magnetic flux makes the excitation The current increases sharply (several times the value of the applied voltage increase), so that the stator current increases, the motor overheats, and the temperature rise exceeds the allowable value and burns.

When the voltage is too low (below 5%), the torque of the motor decreases in the square relationship of the voltage. First, the starting torque drops a lot, and the motor is difficult to start (slow start or even can not start); second, the running motor, If the load remains unchanged (heavy load or rated load operation), the rotor must maintain the necessary electromagnetic torque to balance the resistance torque of the load. This forces the rotor current to increase, resulting in an increase in the stator current, causing the motor to overheat, increase the temperature, shorten the life of the motor, and even burn the motor.

There are many situations in which the motor starts and runs at low voltage. At this time, the load should be reduced as much as possible or it should be used intermittently. Generally, the voltage of the motor is allowed to fluctuate within the range of +10%~-5%. If the power supply voltage is 380 volts, the motor is allowed to run for a long time between 418-36l volts.
